At St Columba Anglican School, the Performing Arts have the power to spark creativity, build confidence, and uncover hidden talents in every child. Recognised as one of the region's most comprehensive programs, our Performing Arts offerings span from Kindergarten through to Year 12. Whether it's Dance, Drama, Music, or behind the scenes, our dedicated educators create a supportive, inclusive space where students can explore their passions and thrive.
Dance at SCAS is about more than movement—it’s about self-expression, creativity, and growth. Our program fosters discipline, focus, and social connection, ensuring that every student, from beginners to seasoned performers, has a place to shine.
We offer a variety of dance styles, with students introduced to dance from as early as Kindergarten, offering several elective subjects in Secondary School, HSC level Dance, and an extensive range of co-curricular groups for all year levels. Whether your child is taking their first steps in dance or is an experienced performer, they’ll find a place to thrive in our Dance program. Guided by expert teachers, students build their skills, confidence, and artistry. Regular showcases and competitions provide opportunities to perform, develop stage presence, and celebrate the joy of movement in a collaborative and encouraging environment.
Drama at St Columba Anglican School is where confidence and creativity take centre stage. Through dynamic activities and productions, students learn to express themselves, explore new perspectives, and build key skills like collaboration, resilience, and adaptability.
From Primary School drama clubs to senior elective courses, there’s something for everyone. Our productions, from pop-up performances to plays and musicals, invite students to step into roles as actors, directors, or technical crew, ensuring they can contribute in ways that excite them. Performances take place in our state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre and other venues, creating memorable experiences for both students and our community.
Music is woven into the fabric of life at SCAS, starting in Kindergarten and continuing through Year 12. With specialist teachers leading the way, students are encouraged to explore their creativity, build intellectual skills, and connect emotionally through music.
An instrumental program runs in Year 3 (strings) and Year 5 (band), where every student learns to play their own instrument in small group tutorials and ensemble lessons. Music can be studied to the highest level as a course choice in Years 9 to 12, including Music 1 and Music 2 HSC courses. With multiple co-curricular ensembles and countless performance opportunities, students can sing, play, compose, and perform at school events, community showcases, and competitions.
