Clubs and Outdoor Education

Clubs and Opportunities

In addition to a diverse range of performing arts and sports co-curricular programs, our clubs and activities provide students with the opportunity to explore new interests, build friendships, and develop skills in a fun, relaxed setting.

Students can join the Robotics Team to tackle tech challenges and compete internationally, or engage in critical thinking with the Philosophy Club. Our service-based clubs develop leadership skills and compassion through community volunteering, such as at the Soup Kitchen, while faith-based groups offer spiritual growth. There are also opportunities such as the Tournament of Minds and the Science and Engineering Challenge, honing adaptability, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial skills.

Outdoor Education

Our Outdoor Education program is a big part of life at SCAS where we aim to get students excited about the outdoors and allow them to grow in confidence. Our Kindergarten to Year 2 students enjoy late-night and overnight experiences on the school campus designed to introduce them to the fun and adventure of camping and being away from home.

By the time they reach the later years, students take on even bigger adventures like kayaking and orienteering. These activities help them build resilience, develop teamwork, and push their boundaries in a safe and supportive environment.

Outdoor education isn’t just about physical activity — it’s about learning to solve problems together, communicate effectively, and build lifelong skills. We also offer opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, giving students the chance to further develop their leadership and self-reflection skills while having fun in the great outdoors.

The Duke of Edinburgh Program

At SCAS, we offer students the chance to join The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a prestigious program that encourages young people (aged 14-25) to challenge themselves, learn new skills, and serve their community. Participants grow by achieving goals in four areas: Skill Development, Physical Activity, Voluntary Service, and Adventurous Journey. The award has three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—each offering greater challenges.

The program aligns with our School’s commitment to character development by promoting planning, perseverance, and service. Benefits include enhanced leadership, time management, and recognition from universities. Our location offers unique opportunities for the Adventurous Journey and community engagement.

Open to students in Year 9 and above, the program supports personal growth and creates lasting memories. Visit www.dukeofed.com.au for more information.
